Where was the Author?
On November 22nd, 1963 I was a 12 year
old student at Sacred Heart School in Auburn Hills, Michigan. I and the other students in the grade school were assembled
in the lunch room to hear a talk by a sheriff deputy on safety. Shortly
after he introducted himself, he was interrupted by Sister Jerome. Then, after their short and private conversation,
the deputy rushed out of the building. I'm not sure if Sister told us Kennedy had been shot in the lunch room
or after we were taken back to our classroom. Or when she told us the sheriff deputy was a friend with a police officer
that was also shot in Dallas. But I do remember once we returned to class we all were instructed to kneel down and pray
for President Kennedy. Our prayers didn't last long because shortly there after, we were told Kennedy had died...for
days after, I stayed glued to our black & white TV set as millions of others did. Seeing Jack Ruby shooting
Lee Harvey Oswald was yet another blow...with Oswald's death also was the death of the truth, and a beginning to find the
truth.
